Setting Up the Project
To begin, clone the React Dashboard repository and choose a name for your new project. Once cloned, install the required dependencies. Note that you may encounter an issue with yarn install, but running yarn add sqlite3 separately and then re-running yarn install should resolve the problem.
Creating the Dashboard, Table, and Database
Now that your project is set up, let’s create a MySQL database using MAMP. This will allow you to connect your application to a local database. Create a database, add a table named “posts” with five columns, and input the required information.
Linking the Local Database to Your Application
Using Sequelize, a Node.js ORM, connect your database to your application. Then, uncomment the mutation for post creation in the schema.js file. This will enable you to create new posts in your database from your frontend.
Testing the Application
Kill the server and restart it. If everything works, you should be able to create new posts. Click on “View all Posts,” then “Create New,” and input a title and content. Click “Save” and return to the dashboard page to see your new post appear in the table.
